Transmutation

Transmutation is the action of changing into another form.

We are a group of alchemists changing silence into music. We are a band about change.

Transmutation was created by Astin Lopez in 2023. Their debut self-titled EP was released on March 6th 2024. The logo and branding, as well as the mascot character design, were created by Danielle Castillo. The original lineup consisted of Astin on guitar and vocals, Ethan Sauer on bass, and Gerard Calderone on drums.

After the release of the EP, Brian Degitz joined on drums and Joey Palminteri joined on lead guitar. This lineup played shows throughout 2024.

After a local Denver tour, Losing Ground bassist Joseph “Fox” Rojas joined the project in early 2025. Rojas played bass and led the charge in revamping the visual identity, conceptual framework, and artistic standards of Transmutation. Astin and Joseph worked together to re-establish a creative foundation and solidify the band’s identity.

Although Rojas departed the project in mid 2025, some of the vision he had for the project remained in future releases and activities. Palminteri also left the project around this time.

The current identity of Transmutation is an amalgamation of the original concept by Astin, the original branding and design by Danielle Castillo, and the revamped concept by Joseph “Fox” Rojas and Astin Lopez.
